My Hero is 4 Years Old

Jake is my 4 year old nephew. He just had his 3rd open heart surgery. He is my hero b/c he has overcome SOOO much and has the sweetest spirit of any kid I've ever known (Seriously! And I've known a lot of kids!). We went and spent last weekend with him while he was recovering in the hospital. Even though the circumstances were not what we would have chosen, it is impossible to ignore how God is so good through it all. I KNOW in my heart God has great things planned for this little guy and I can't wait to see how his story unfolds. Thank you so much, friends, for your covering of prayer over Jake. We certainly felt it!

Super Jake in his cape

Some of his fan club hanging out in the hospital room (that's Amy, her parents, Marie and Barry, Ty, Papa Al, and JoJo's feet in bed with Jake)

Jake wanted Nash to come and sit by him - see, SO sweet!

Jake and his precious mama cuddling up together
We really had to coax him into taking his pain medicine (b/c he decided he was DONE with all medicine), but you can see in this next sequence how it takes affect on a short wagon ride.
Poor guy didn't feel too good at the start of this ride.

5 min later we get the famous "Ty 1/2 smile"

Another 5 minutes - there's our Jakers!

Me, Jake and JoJo

One morning, JoJo and I took Nash and Grace to the Houston Children's Museum since they weren't exactly hospital-friendly guests. Ya know - jumping, running, screaming, etc...2 year old play. But, they had a blast at the museum and riding the train - and just being together!
All tuckered out (about 2 minutes into the ride home)
Mark was so helpful to take these little guys back to the house so the rest of us could stay with Jake.

Playing Ring Around the Rosie together - doesn't get much cuter!

  1. Thank you so much for this post and for everything you've done for us! We love you!

P.S. Grace just watched the video of Nash and her about 20 times in a row :)
