Another week, another pound

I swear that every time I get Nash up from a nap, he has gotten bigger! He crossed the 11 lb. mark on our scale at home today. We are doing well at the Brannon household! Nash is sleeping pretty good at night in the bassinet ( woo-hoo!). During the day, though, he likes to be cuddled - ALL day. While I love that he's a cuddle bug, I do occasionally need to eat and shower. I got a sling today that we'll be trying out, so maybe he'll still think he's being held, but my hands will be free. We'll see! This is what our days consist of: feeding, diaper changes, a little baby talk, and rocking Nash back to sleep. Really, that's our whole day. I'm not complaining - I LOVE it!!! But, it makes for rather boring blog posts. So, I'll just post some pictures - that's what you all want anyway! Ta-ta for now!

Brilliant Bracketology

One reason Mark and I make a good team is b/c we are opposite in ways that compliment each other. For example, Mark is a sports fanatic, while I tend to appreciate the arts. I just have never gotten into sports, especially watching them on TV (with the exception of UFC - don't ask me why I love it so much, I cannot explain it! Go Forrest and GSP!). This year, however, Mark has talked me into doing a fantasy basketball bracket. I agreed only b/c I think it would be AWESOME to beat a lot of you who spend hours making picks and who really take these fantasy brackets seriously. So, I made my picks in about 10 minutes last night and Mark found it rather hilarious. He made me promise to blog and share my reasoning on why I picked who I did b/c he got such a kick out of it. He said I actually have a decent bracket despite my defunct rationale. Anyways, here goes:

Destin's Top 10 Rationale for Choosing her Basketball Bracket

1. Arizona to beat Utah in 1st round - marital obligation

2. A&M to beat BYU in 1st round - b/c the Mormons only slightly out-crazy the Aggies

3. Minnesota to beat UT in 1st round - the coach's name is "Tubby" - now that's just funny

4. Oklahoma St. to beat Tennessee in 1st round - b/c that orange jacket the Tenn. coach wears is HIDEOUS - seriously, it physically hurts my eyes

5. LSU to beat Butler in 1st round - family obligation

6. Oklahoma to make Elite 8 - that's for my sister-in-law, Amy, who sometimes cries when Oklahoma loses. I'm just proud of her for being a true female sports authority.

7. Duke to make the Elite 8 - b/c in UFC I like to pick the guy with the worst cauliflower ear and in this case, Duke's coach looks awfully mean - ya know, like he's been in a few fights himself

8. Memphis to go to Final 4 - b/c it is a good ole southern city with good music and good BBQ

9. Kansas to go to final 2 - b/c my great uncle, Cal Downs, worked there for many years

10. North Carolina to win it all - b/c my Lubbock homies like them and b/c blue is my favorite color

I bought this shirt for my nephew, Jake, when he was born. Little did I know 2 yrs later my son would be wearing it. =)

Almost 1 month!

I CANNOT believe Nash will be one month old this Thursday! He's a really good baby - even sleeping 3-4 hr. stretches. However, he still REFUSES to sleep on his back - I mean he wakes up in 2-5 minutes totally ticked at the world and it takes another hour to get him back to sleep. So, the medical community may shake its finger at me, but he is a tummy sleeper. We just turn on the SIDS monitor (it is a monitor that sounds an alarm if he quits moving or breathing for 20 seconds), turn on the ceiling fan, and say a little prayer - God has given me peace about this. He will sleep in the bassinet now, which is a relief, b/c I pretty much didn't put him down the first 3 weeks of his life. Oh well - so he's a little spoiled! We'll cross that bridge another day! Nash was having a few reflux issues so we started him on some medication and that seems to be getting better. Needless to say, there are towels on the couch where I sit to nurse him b/c he has christened it a few times. But as you will see by the pictures, the reflux was in no way affecting his weight gain. He is growing so fast and according to my scale at home, over 10 lbs. now. Overall, he is doing great and we are loving having him around!

We have been so blessed by our friends and family as well. My mom came back last week and stayed a few days. I cannot even tell you how much it helped to have her around - she changed diapers, cooked, cleaned, rocked him to sleep so I could nap - PRICELESS. Friends from church bring meals every other day - I think that will continue to almost April. God has been good to us in every way. Please enjoy the pictures below. Well, well, well! The Brannons have finally created a blog. It only took 8 lbs. 10 oz. of genetic perfection to motivate me. Please bear with me as I figure out how this all works! For those who know me well, I know it is SHOCKING that I am not a technological genius. AND, since I believe other websites out there that allow others to find/contact you are inherently evil, this is a big step for me! However, since our recent new addition to the family, I am finding that I am changing in countless ways. So, we decided to start a blog to share pictures and stories with our friends and family. Nash is now a little over 2 wks. old and we are enjoying getting to know each other. He is a good eater, decent sleeper, and a pretty laid back little dude. Needless to say, we are pretty much in love with the boy! Please enjoy these recent pics!
